Analysis of Your Privacy on Social Media

I decided to do my project on Your Privacy on Social Media. This topic would explore the effects of a user's privacy on today's most popular way to connect with each other - social networking. Whether it be on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram or on any other platform, the use of social media has grown over the past several years and with that our privacy, or lack thereof. I would like to discuss the many privacy concerns that have arisen over the years, such as account hacking and location-based services, and the impacts it has created in our society. Showing different instances where privacy was a concern at any one of these social media sites would be a good way to portray this topic. Over the years, we have seen a growing number of companies collect user data in order to improve services or in many cases possibly for advertisement purposes. It's interesting to see this topic in a business perspective and as a user we can decide whether or not we believe it's a violation of our privacy that everything we do online can be tracked and used to create more effective marketing. I want to also explain how this loss of privacy can also affect the way we see things such as what kind of news we see. It is also important to discuss how users are able to , at the very least, increase their privacy on these networking sites in order to combat this loss of privacy. This description is just a few of the topics I plan to explore for my project.

  1. This is an interesting topic to discuss about, it's something I constantly think about. In this generation, nothing is ever private. I'm on various social media platforms, and the privacy aspect does concern me. Where we do draw the lines of privacy? Technology and the internet is constantly changing. We have access to so much information in our finger tips.
